OLP 125th Gala Event

We've been asked to announce this to our class by Karene Lemke Evenson '56 (you might remember her daughters who were just a bit ahead of us).

As you might know, 2006-2007 is OLP's 125th anniversary year, and a string of events have been planned. Here's the Gala event information:

125th "Gala" Event
April 28, 2007
US Grant Hotel
San Diego

For more information, please go here on OLP's web site: http://www.educatingher.org/gala_event.htm

A Terrific Reunion!

We had a terrific 20th reunion!

It really seemed that people had a genuinely good time at our two events. As you will see in pictures that I will post soon, the gatherings felt clique-less--so those of you who were fearful of that, please come next time to our 25th! It felt great going down memory lane.

For those of you who were there, what was your favorite part of the reunion weekend? What would you like to have remembered about it? Was there someone you wanted to see who wasn't there? ADD A COMMENT to this post, and let's see what you all have to say!!

Come out, come out whereever you are!!!

Ladies of OLP 1986:

More and more classmates are coming to the reunion. Are you one of them?

Don't miss out! It's not too late to have a change of heart and come to our reunion. Some are coming stag, some with partners and--scandalous!--one of us is attending with a MUCH younger man (ok me) but you'll have to come to the reunion to check out the small, dark and handsome mystery date (hint, scroll down a few posts and you can figure it out).

In other words, come as you are, come as you'd like. We want to see each of you. It's time to look back on 20 years and be proud of all that's happened in our lives. We love all shapes and sizes of people and experiences at this reunion.

...Courtesy of our beloved mascot, Giselle Knight

Giselle Knight kindly recalled for me our Class of 1986 alma mater written by the brilliant Gaby Whiteman (Gaby, WHERE ARE YOU?!?!)

TO THE TUNE OF VILLA MONTEMAR, here's our special version. Do you remember, ladies?:

Set on a hill over Hooper's drugstore
Mountain and sea afar
Built on a love of food and much more
stands Cookie Monstemar
though years may pass other cares a bringing
and you may not be near
turn back your thoughts your hearts are singing
to those memories dear
so sing to Cookie Monstemar
on cookies he does feast
sing once more to Cookie Monster
our favorite blue skinned beast
with your shoulders back and heads up high
and a cookie in your mouth
stand and cheer '86
for the monster without ticks
with a blue, navy, aqua!

FYI: Saints 1986 Reunion

For those of you who are interested, the Saints class of 1986 is doing their reunion on the same weekend, and we are welcome to attend their Friday night event following our at-OLP gathering.

====================
HH* on Friday Aug 25, at 7pm - ??
Bully's East SD
2401 Camino Del Rio South
corner of Texas and Camino Del Rio S

Happy Hour Buffet Platters/ Cash Bar
====================

*Maybe it is because I don't get out enough any more, but your parentally-intrepid blogger isn't sure what "HH" means. I'm thinking "Happy Hour," though I had other ideas too (don't ask). I just copied and pasted the information, but if I am wrong about this after checking in with your far cooler classmates, I will make corrections. :-)

Get Your RSVP Response in ASAP Please

The committee is would like to finalize plans for our reunion. If you haven't done so already, please get your RSVP response into Suzi Avalos Maybo ("maybos at cox.net"--replace the "at" with the appropriate symbol) as soon as possible please.

And make it a YES! We'd love to see you!

A person only has one 20th high school reunion, and this is yours. :-) It's a trite saying, but, in this case, it's true: rekindle friendships, and be prepared to make new ones. As the committee has found out, it's really nice to get to know each other as adults.

Come for "round two" and be prepared to have a good time.

(To whomever left the question in the Comments section in the "EVENT LOCATION/HOTEL INFORMATION" post: I left a new comment with the RSVP address there. You can also contact Suzi Avalos for questions: maybos at cox.net. Thanks!)

Announcing the Academy of Our Lady of Peace Class of 1986 20th Reunion

Welcome OLP Class of 1986!

If you've been searching for 20th reunion information, you've come to the right place.

From here you can find the latest information about the reunion, help us track down "lost" classmates, and communicate with classmates (in the comments sections of blog entries) in preparation for the reunion.

We'd like to continue using this blog after the reunion to enable people to post pictures of the event and stay in touch in preparation for our next reunion.

In a future posting, I will introduce the reunion planning committee members, led by Suzi Avalos, who are doing the real work.

In the meantime, I sign off as your humble blogger,
Leysia
